Oaxaca has always been seen as a monolithic state within Mexico, while it’s one of the poorest states in Mexico, it is one of the most culturally rich. With 8 regions, I made some surface designs based off the diverseness of Oaxaca. All ranging from food, traditional patterns, nature, clothing, and dances.

The solar eclipse has been seen differently over time and all around the world, from those perspectives, myths and folktales were born and eventually shared and passed down. Based off some of those folktales, I created a series of patterns that all center around the solar eclipse.
